Telangana News: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has recommended the removal of Forest and Endowments Minister Konda Surekha from the state Council of Ministers, following an internal Congress disciplinary dispute linked to remarks made by her daughter, Konda Sushmitha Patel. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the recommendation has been sent to Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla. The constitutional process is not complete until the Governor gives assent, so the development should be described as a recommendation to remove her rather than a final dismissal.
What triggered the action against Konda Surekha?
The dispute began after Sushmitha made public remarks in August criticising Revanth Reddy and Parkal MLA Revuri Prakash Reddy. Her comments led the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee’s disciplinary panel to seek an explanation from Surekha.
Surekha argued that her daughter was an independent adult and that she could not be held politically responsible for another person’s views. Media reports said the party panel considered the comments inappropriate and initiated disciplinary action.
The Congress disciplinary committee subsequently recommended action against Surekha, The Indian Express reported. Committee chairman Mallu Ravi said party discipline was central to the organisation’s standing.

Is this only about her daughter’s remarks?
The immediate trigger was the controversy over Sushmitha’s comments, but the public dispute has widened beyond that episode.
On September 3, letters written by Surekha on August 23 to senior Congress leaders surfaced. In them, she alleged that she was being politically and administratively sidelined within the Telangana government. She also claimed that decisions relating to her departments were being taken without adequate consultation.
